Doctoral Candidates from our network participated with presentations at the Wind Energy Science Conference (WESC) 2025 in Nantes, France from the 24-27 of June, gathering +1200 attendees from academia and industry.
ADOreD was the main figure at the session "Offshore Wind and AC/DC Grids" with the following presentations:
"Transmission expansion planning using continuous variables for AC/DC grid to interconnect offshore wind energy" by Bernardo Castro Valerio.
"Optimal Design and Sizing of Energy Islands Integrating Battery Energy Storage Systems, HVDC Systems and Hydrogen Energy Storage" by Mario Useche-Arteaga.
"Holistic Grid-Forming Control for HVDC-Connected Offshore Wind Power Plants to Provide Frequency Response" by Zhenghua Xu.
"Testing of Distance Protection in Offshore Wind Power Plants" by Alexander Novikov.
"EMT study of interactions between Multi-Vender Offshore Wind Power Plants Connected to Weak Grids" by Germano Mugambi.
This event was valuable platform for cross-disciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange, key to drive a stronger integration of renewables, and in particular, wind energy into the grid.
