Overview of our activities:

 

Transferable Skills Training 

We had a presentation on "Socio-Economic Aspects of Wind Power Generation and Transmission" by May Munday (Cardiff Business School) and a workshop on presentation skills by David Harries (Academic English Skills for International Students, Cardiff University)

 

Outreach Event

We visited the Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Plasmawr School where we shared essential knowledge and concepts of electrical engineering and our work as doctoral candidates through physical experiments, presentations and videos with +100 students between 13-14 years old.

Open Lectures: 

"CIGRE’s visions and Power System Transformation in face of the Energy Transition" by Marcio Szechtman(CIGRE) and "DC Grids: Key Drivers in the Future of Power Systems" by Maryam Saeedifard (PELS) hosted by IEEE in collaboration with PELS. 

 

 

Lectures and Presentations:

"HVDC Technology and Career Development" by Marcio Szechtman and Jun Liang, "2GW VSC Bipolar Schemes" by Davide Pinzan and "Career Development at GE Vernona" by Hope Chen.

 

General Assembly 

The doctoral candidates presented their work and received feedback from supervisors.
