Work Package 3: AC/DC Interaction

Objectives

This WP aims to bridge the remaining gaps with respect to the development of the future power system, where AC and DC systems will work in parallel. Methods are sought to manage the system with massive penetration of power electronic converters. New solutions to analyse faults characteristics and to detect and discriminate different types of DC faults will be developed. This will lead to new protective relaying schemes for hybrid AC/DC grids. Siting and sizing methods will be developed to determine the optimal location and capacity of grid-forming converters. Researchers 4, 5, 8, 9, and 14 will undertake their individual projects within this WP.
