Work Package 1: Offshore Wind

Objectives

This WP will address the challenges and research questions over the collection and transmission technologies, operation and control systems for OWFs. Large floating WT will be investigated using the real 15 MW test platform from ODSL. Comparisons between DC collection systems and different AC options in terms of the costs, efficiency, reliability, maintainability and availability of the different components will be carried out to find the optimal configurations. Digital offshore converter stations will be studied to improve the operation and control performance of offshore grids using the data collected by the smart substation. The stability of multi-vendor large OWF clusters will be studied to ensure the stable and secure operation of large-scale OWFs. Researchers 3, 10, 11, 13, and 15 will be recruited to undertake their individual projects within this work package.
